In partnership with Franklin Memorial Hospital, and AHEC, Spruce Mountain Adult & Community Education is facilitating an all-inclusive sixteen-week certification course.  This class will set you on the path for local employment and the beginning of a successful medical career. 

Medical Assistants are responsible for a variety of medical office tasks from administrative, technical and scientific duties.  Must have quality human relations skills, too.  Some of the job duties include cleaning and dressing wounds, taking blood samples, administering medications, taking vitals, preparing a patient for EKGs, obtaining a patient's history, and assisting physicians during examinations. 

Our program provides virtual reality style classroom work as well as traditional style teaching for a blended learning experience.  Practicum will be performed during the program to ensure that the student has proper techniques and will be ready to pass the National Certification.  Upon completion of the program, you will sit for your CCMA (Clinical Certified Medical Assistant) national certification exams through NHA. 

The cost includes national certification, 6 practice exams, online study guide materials, books, resume assistance, and all other associated fees.  Initial job shadow and externships available through Franklin Memorial Hospital.

Certified Nursing Assistant course that meet the State requirement of 180 hours (110 hours of classroom/lab and 70 hours of clinical experience) and, if needed, six hours of CPR instruction. Clinicals are held at area healthcare facilities. Upon successful completion of this course, passing the State CNA exam and successful acceptance to the State Registry, you will be a state-certified CNA.  

This class will cover fundamental skills that will allow you to feel more comfortable using computer technology.  Specific topics covered will depend on your needs and skill level.

In this course, BoomerTECH  Adventures guides Chris, Jill, and Ed to share their love of cooking and enjoyment of lots of different types of foods. This course is designed for those who want to develop an online course using Zoom, a video conferencing platform. This guide consists of step-by-step videos that explain and demonstrate how to use Zoom as well as appropriate instructional tips to build an engaging online course in any subject. You will learn everything you need to know about Zoom—tools, settings, security, instructional strategies, building community, Zoom tips for instructors and students, and much more.

This 10-week course will start with the basics of knife skills and progress to fine dining. Students will sit for the national Kitchen Manager certification towards the end of their class in addition to earning an AMSA Meat Selection and Cookery certificate. This course will also include the Southwest Airlines Professional Communication credential. 

The classes will be held Monday-Thurday 9 am - 2 pm.

Everyone has a story to tell. Writing your memoir helps you reflect on the varied experiences that impacted your life and helped shape who you are today. This course looks at a  variety of digital tools, available through any digital device, that makes the process of memoir writing more fun and a little less daunting. You will explore several unique approaches to research, learn strategies for gathering and storing materials in one easily accessible place, and delve into ways to illustrate your memoir even if you are not an artist. Polishing your work for publication and presenting it in a public format are other video topics. You will leave the course well equipped to begin your writing adventure.
