Babysitting Certification Course

We are partnering with Franklin Memorial Hospital to bring a babysitting course to our community members.
All participants will earn an American Heart Association Certification in First Aid and CPR. Common knowledge and helpful babysitting techniques will also be taught during this course.
Please Note: Students may bring a bottle of water. No snacks are to be brought to the class due to allergies. Please be mindfull and have the student eat before or after the class
Make Your Best Shot—An Introduction to Digital Photography

In this one-night class participants will learn the basics of digital photography: what you should have read in your owner’s manual but didn’t!
Topics covered include camera settings, understanding exposure and white balance, tips for making your best shots of various subjects.

Photography: After Dark

In this one-night class we will explores all the things you need to know to take successful images after the sun sets and before the sun rises.
This session reviews exposure, how to shoot images in the dark—including the Milky Way and Aurora—and how to capture your best photo under just moonlight.
We will review equipment helpful for nighttime photography, including using a cell phone.

Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Interest List

In partnership with Franklin Memorial Hospital, and AHEC, Spruce Mountain Adult & Community Education is facilitating an all-inclusive sixteen-week certification course. This class will set you on the path for local employment and the beginning of a successful medical career.
Medical Assistants are responsible for a variety of medical office tasks from administrative, technical and scientific duties. Must have quality human relations skills, too. Some of the job duties include cleaning and dressing wounds, taking blood samples, administering medications, taking vitals, preparing a patient for EKGs, obtaining a patient's history, and assisting physicians during examinations.
Our program provides virtual reality style classroom work as well as traditional style teaching for a blended learning experience. Practicum will be performed during the program to ensure that the student has proper techniques and will be ready to pass the National Certification. Upon completion of the program, you will sit for your CCMA (Clinical Certified Medical Assistant) national certification exams through NHA.
The cost includes national certification, 6 practice exams, online study guide materials, books, resume assistance, and all other associated fees. Initial job shadow and externships available through Franklin Memorial Hospital.
